Medical Links that I like...

last updated 09/05/03

In case you don't know, we will be moving come mid 2004 back to the Queen City.  I am starting a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology (kids with blood disorders and cancer). Enough about dharma...

Anyways, I will include some medical links below.

More to come...

"Spend some time in the presence of children with cancer, and you're never quite the same again.  I've met famous actors, singers, athletes, even a few presidents, and none were as remarkable as these children.

I can’t tell you the exact moment it happened, but through my work with children with cancer, I went from avoiding them to embracing these children.  I’ve laughed with them, cried for them, and delivered eulogies in their honor.  Working with them has been one of the greatest blessings of my life.

Physically and mentally, these children have been to places you don’t ever want to visit.  They have stood at the edge and stared into the dark void.  Yet, they have a depth, dignity, and spirit I’ve never seen anywhere else.  I’ve often said God gives them something extra, and they use it.

The wisdom of the ages tells us to live each day as if it were our last.  Sadly, most of us fall short, but these kids do just that.  They are able to milk every bit of joy and irony out of every moment.  They are old souls in little bodies.

They will tell you that they just want to be normal.  They are anything but.  Having stood toe to toe with this monster, cancer, they are never the same again, and having known them, neither am I.”
